Purpose
The Engineering Technician will be an essential member of the operations support team, ensuring operational goals are met as measured by Cost, Quality, Delivery, and Safety. This role focuses on standard and non-standard equipment repairs that require root cause troubleshooting, supports the design and installation of new equipment, and prioritizes safety across the facility and machinery.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks on equipment, machinery, and facilities
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules to ensure equipment operates efficiently and to reduce downtime
- Support the installation and design of new production machinery, tooling, and automated robotics
- Evaluate production equipment for continuous improvement opportunities and efficiency gains
- Maintain and update the equipment management software system to support compliance and team coordination
- Read and interpret production equipment manuals to aid in troubleshooting and knowledge development
- Identify and resolve potential safety issues within the facility and machinery
- Take initiative to proactively identify equipment concerns and propose practical, timely solutions
- Independently troubleshoot, maintain, and repair facility and production equipment (including HVAC, water, air, and electrical systems)
- Demonstrate strong ownership of tasks and follow through to resolution with minimal supervision
- Assist with inventory management of spare parts and supplies to minimize equipment downtime
- Serve as a key member of the safety team, focusing on equipment safety and design improvements
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles to optimize production environments
- Coordinate with external maintenance providers and vendors to ensure timely and compliant repairs or installations
- Report to work in person and start duties on time for the assigned shift
- Complete required hours on the assigned work shift to fulfill job responsibilities
Skills
- Ability to work independently and think critically when evaluating and solving technical challenges
- Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Ability to read electrical schematics (vocational maintenance training certificate preferred)
- Working knowledge of computers and operating systems
- Strong problem-solving skills related to equipment sensors, actuators, controllers, and PLCs
- Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-through skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Qualifications/Requirements
- 5 or more years of hands-on maintenance or equipment technician experience in a manufacturing, production, or automation environment
- Technical certification, trade school, or associate degree in a relevant field preferred
- Experience with maintenance tracking systems strongly preferred
- Prior experience in a regulated environment (GMP, FDA, ISO, etc.) is a plus
- Clearance of favorable background investigation required
