FIELD ENGINEER - Biogas and Engineering Operations - Remote

Job Overview
The Field Engineer will work closely with the business development team, engineers, project managers, and ESI’s construction partners to support the construction and startup of the company’s EPC biogas utilization projects. The position requires implementing sound engineering principles to ensure project designs are implemented and installed to meet regulatory requirements and ESI’s internal quality standards. An ability to work independently, lead the Construction team, and communicate effectively with internal partners, customers and subcontractors is of the utmost importance to this position.
The position is based remotely, and the successful candidate will spend most of their time at our active project construction sites. They will report to the Director of Projects.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage site construction activities to meet construction schedules, budgets, and safety requirements.
- Monitor and manage craft employees for optimal execution of self-performed work.
- Provide support to Construction Superintendent for the execution of the work and assist in the resolution of field problems as necessary.
- Engage with clients and apply technical knowledge to practical problems.
- Handle change order negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
- Monitor dimensional control of subcontracted work; checks and verifies the accuracy of all dimensions on the plans and shop drawings; initiates RFls in a timely manner to resolve discrepancies before they can cause construction delays.
- Collaborate with Project Management team to prepare and update project schedules.
- Oversee the negotiation of terms of agreements, drafting of contracts, and the acquisition of permits and licenses.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, customer auditors and internal Finance and HR teams to support ongoing compliance with prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements specific to Inflation Reduction Act tax credit eligibility.
- Ensure completion of daily Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
- Work with HSE staff to ensure projects meet environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Estimating costs and managing assigned work within budget.
- Support the review and response to contractor RFIs.
- Support ESI’s Operations Division.
- Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional partners such as Operations, Business
- Development, Project Management, HR, and IT.
- Apply RACI principals to support an accountability framework for special projects.
- Seek ways to improve and promote quality, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in all work.
- Willingness and ability to respond to urgent issues outside normal business hours.
- Remote position but requiring 75% travel each month.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8 years of Industrial Engineering and Construction project experience including a minimum of 2 years of onsite construction management experience.
- Valid driver’s license for the state of residence.
- Working knowledge of construction site hazard assessment
- Working knowledge of OSHA Part 1926 – Safety and Health Regulations for Construction.
- Proficiency in utilizing the 3D Plant Model.
- Ability to create field sketches for onsite personnel.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Project, ProCor other project management/scheduling software.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
