General Position Summary: The Coordinator of Children's Religious Education is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the faith formation programs for children in grades K-5, as well as the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program for ages 3-12, (Level 1, 2, and 3) as well as Tender Lambs of Christ for special needs children, second through twelfth grade. This role ensures that all catechetical instruction aligns with Catholic teachings and fosters a deep understanding of the faith among young learners. They will assist in forming parents and volunteers to walk with these children in their faith.
Principal Accountabilities:
Program Development & Implementation:
- Plan and oversee religious education curriculum for grades K-5.
- Coordinate and facilitate CGS sessions.
- Ensure all programs align with Catholic doctrine and diocesan guidelines.
Volunteer & Catechist Management:
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists.
- Provide ongoing formation and resources for catechists.
- Ensure compliance with Safe Environment policies.
Sacramental Preparation & Faith Formation:
- Overseas the Sacramental preparation of children for First Reconciliation and First Communion.
- Organize parent meetings and workshops related to sacramental preparation.
Administrative Duties:
- Overseas Administrative Assistant who supports K-5 & CGS.
- Develop and manage program budgets.
- Communicate regularly with parents and parish staff.
Faith Formation & Community Engagement:
- Organize retreats, prayer services, and special events.
- Foster a welcoming and engaging environment for families.
- Collaborate with parish ministries to integrate faith formation into the broader church community.
- Professional development through ongoing study, education, workshops, etc.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Typical Decisions and/or Recommendations Made in This Position:
- Determine whether there are enough catechists to teach Elementary School youth programming.
- Determine the particulars of a Elementary School Family retreat.
Supervision Given and/or Received:
- Position will be under direct supervision of Director of Religious Education.

- Parents of the children enrolled in SEAS Elementary School Ministry programming.

- Parish volunteers who will be serving as catechists.
- Ft. Worth Diocese Religious Education staff.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- Practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church, passionate about evangelization and discipleship.
- Certifications in ministry and strong theological foundation in Catholic doctrine and catechesis.
- Proven ability to engage, mentor, and form young people in their faith.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for youth events, retreats, and parish activities.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel is rarely required, 1-3 times a year.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Experience working in a parish setting with Elementary School students.
- Continued faith education experience
- Active member of the Catholic Church in good standing.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, Religious Studies, Education, or related field (preferred).
- Experience in catechesis, religious education, or child faith formation.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with Catechesis of the Good Shepherd methodology (preferred).
- Demonstrates ability to listen empathetically, make peace, and de-escalate
