We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal to support our municipal law attorneys. The successful candidate will assist with a broad range of legal matters involving local government, including ordinance drafting, open records requests, public meetings, and land use issues. The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing skills, excellent organizational abilities, and an interest in public sector legal work.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings related to municipal codes, state statutes, and administrative regulations
- Assist with drafting ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and memoranda
- Manage and track open records requests and responses in compliance with applicable laws
- Prepare materials for public meetings, including agendas and exhibits
- Coordinate and maintain legal files related to city matters, including zoning, real property, and employment issues
- Communicate with city staff, board members, and outside agencies as needed
- Support litigation involving municipalities, including preparing discovery and reviewing case documents
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Paralegal, preferably with exposure to municipal or administrative law
- Familiarity with the Texas Public Information Act and Open Meetings Act (or applicable state laws) is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and legal document management systems
- Strong research and writing skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
- Professional communication skills and a commitment to client service
