Job DescriptionDescription:

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Production Coordinator position is full-time and responsible for large quantities of meal preparation for various programs including our senior hunger and childhood nutrition programs.


The Production Coordinator is responsible for prepping and staging food, and directing the meal packing lines, complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. The coordinator is also responsible for appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, and product waste.

This position works closely with our meal packing volunteers, and must feel comfortable training and instructing large groups of people in a kitchen environment.


Job Duties

  • Prepare or direct preparation of food packed using established production procedures and systems; determine amount and type of food, and supplies required; ensures availability of supplies and food, or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation. Replenish supplies as needed.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for our kitchen volunteers.
  • Ensure compliance with menus, recipes, production schedules, and quality standards.
  • Maintain the food storage areas including thawing preparation for meal items and food logs.
  • Properly follow food storage procedures; marking dates and item names to ensure the quality and quantity of food packaged and/or served.
  • Complies with established sanitation, personal hygiene and health standards.
  • Oversees and guides volunteers on proper food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is in good working condition.
  • Maintain all temperature logs hot, cold, and sanitation.
  • Keep work area neat and clean at all times; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation.
  • Assisting with oversight of inventory food orders on a daily basis.
  • Assist with completion of daily production sheets.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the kitchen area.
  • Regular use of forklift and pallet jacks after training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must be able to work occasional evenings.

Requirements:

Education

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of prior food handling, production line, or relevant experience.
  • Prior work experience in high volume kitchen a plus.

Licenses

  • Ability to obtain a Health Card
  • ServSafe a plus, but not required

Skills

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills required.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions and information in English.
  • Professional personal appearance.
  • Ability to speak to large groups of people and train on specific tasks.
  • Ability to meet company's production and quality standards.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to use a pallet jack or forklift .

Physical Requirements

Job functions are performed primarily in a clean, ventilated, well-lighted temperature controlled environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
