Overview
We are seeking a Junior Legal Associate to support our Legal Director in managing the legal needs of a dynamic, fast-paced construction and development company. The ideal candidate is a results-driven legal professional with at least 2 years of experience in real estate development, construction law, or corporate transactional work. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to work closely with senior leadership and gain exposure to complex, high-value development deals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal assistance in contract review, drafting, and negotiationprimarily in real estate development, construction, and vendor agreements.
- Conduct legal research, due diligence, and regulatory reviews related to project development and corporate governance.
- Support the Legal Director in preparing materials for meetings, litigation, and regulatory filings.
- Track project milestones and ensure legal documentation aligns with internal compliance and external legal requirements.
- Liaise with outside counsel, consultants, and government entities as needed.
- Maintain organized records of legal documents and ensure timely updates to internal databases.
- Assist in reviewing risk exposure and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Prepare correspondence, summaries, and reports for internal stakeholders.
Legal Aspects of General Contracting
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating general contractor agreements, subcontractor agreements, and consultant contracts.
- Advise on compliance with state and federal construction laws, including licensing, bonding, and insurance requirements.
- Support bid and procurement processes to ensure alignment with legal and ethical standards.
- Ensure adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and other workplace safety laws.
- Monitor lien rights, payment schedules, and change order procedures to protect the companys interests.
- Assist in managing claims and dispute resolution related to delays, defects, and contract performance.
- Stay current on evolving legal and regulatory requirements affecting construction operations and development agreements.
- Maintain accurate records related to contract execution, amendments, and project correspondence to support audits and legal inquiries.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Central Florida or eligible to waive in.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a legal role focused on real estate development, construction law, or commercial transactions.
- Strong understanding of contract law, permitting processes, and real estate development cycles.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated results-oriented mindset with a proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in or with in-house legal departments.
- Familiarity with Florida development regulations and permitting processes (if applicable).
- Exposure to public-private partnerships or government contracts a plus.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
