The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is seeking experienced, passionate, and mission-aligned Competitive Team Coaches to lead and support our Tumblettes USAG competitive team. We are hiring Advanced Coaches to support daily instruction, athlete development, and competition preparation.

As a coach in this regionally recognized program, you will work with gymnasts across USAG Levels 2–9, Bronze through Diamond, emphasizing progressive skill development, technical precision, and positive coaching practices. You’ll play a vital role in mentoring athletes, maintaining high safety standards, preparing for meets, and contributing to a culture of excellence, equity, and empowerment that defines the YWCA.

This is a unique opportunity to coach with purpose—uplifting youth through sport, fostering strong team values, and helping athletes reach their personal best in and out of the gym.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach athletes across USAG Levels 2–9, Bronze through Sapphire, with an emphasis on skill progression, strength development, and competition readiness
  • Serve as an advanced-level support coach for the YWCA Tumblettes team, depending on experience
  • Lead practices across all four events: Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor
  • Spot athletes safely and effectively; support injury prevention and recovery
  • Travel to competitions
  • Provide ongoing feedback and mentorship to athletes in a positive and affirming manner
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to ensure curriculum alignment and team culture
  • Communicate with families about athlete progress, expectations, and team updates
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and professional training environment that reflects the YWCA’s values

Essential Experience

  • Advanced Coach Candidates: Minimum 2–3 years coaching USAG Levels 2–9 or Xcel competitive teams
  • Experience designing training plans, conditioning, and meet prep cycles
  • Demonstrated experience in spotting advanced-level skills and managing athlete progressions
  • Prior experience traveling with teams to competitions preferred

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in kinesiology, physical education, or related field preferred

Additional Qualifications:

  • USAG Professional Membership required (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire)
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Strong technical spotting and event coaching skills across all four apparatus
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with athletes, families, and staff
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and support athletes through physical spotting
  • Experience working in a collaborative coaching environment and contributing to a shared vision
  • Commitment to upholding the YWCA’s mission of equity, empowerment, and inclusive youth development

Schedules:

Full-Time

  • Mon–Fri 1:45 PM–9:15 PM
  • Mon–Fri 2:00 PM–9:15 PM
  • Tue–Fri 2:00 PM–9:15 PM, Sat 7:15 AM–2:45 PM

- Sign-On Bonus: $1,750.00-$2,100.00 on first paycheck (based on schedule)

- Retention Bonus (Upon Completion of 90 Days): $1,750.00-$2,100.00

- Hourly Increase Potential: $1.00-$2.00/hr after 12 months

Part-Time

  • Mon–Fri 3:45 PM–9:15 PM
  • Tue–Fri 3:45 PM–9:15 PM, Sat 7:15 AM–2:45 PM

- Sign-On Bonus: $1,000.00-$1,200.00 on first paycheck (based on schedule)

- Retention Bonus (Upon Completion of 90 Days): $1,000.00-$1,200.00 +

- Hourly Increase Potential: $1.00-$2.00/hr after 12 months
