We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Remote Legal Assistant to support California employment defense attorneys in state and federal practice based in San Bernardino, CA. This contract role involves handling critical legal administrative tasks such as e-filing, document management, creating tables of contents and tables of authorities, calendaring, and professional communication with courts, clients, and opposing counsel.
The ideal candidate must have 5+ years of California-based legal experience, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in litigation-related tools and software. Prior experience in employment law and familiarity with California and federal court procedures is essential. You will play an integral role in ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes while working remotely.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and format legal documents such as briefs, letters, and other correspondence with precision.
• Manage calendars, track deadlines, and ensure timely completion of legal tasks.
• Handle e-filing for state-level cases, ensuring compliance with court procedures.
• Provide administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling and communication management.
• Collaborate effectively with the team to ensure seamless workflow and task prioritization.
• Utilize software tools such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel to perform daily tasks.
• Assist with potential case management software implementation if required.
• Maintain an organized and meticulous approach to all litigation support duties.
• Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive legal information.
• Proven experience in litigation support or paralegal roles, particularly in employment defense.
• Proficiency in e-filing processes and legal document preparation.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Familiarity with software tools such as Aderant, Adobe Acrobat, and CompuLaw.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Prior experience with case management software is a plus.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and professionalism.
